HAPPY TAILS
At United Yorkie Rescue we are blessed with an extraordinary success rate in finding forever homes for our rescued foster dogs. To share this joy we've created this "Happy Tails" page. Happy Tails is devoted to the celebration of these wonderful stories with everyone who loves dogs. We hope that you enjoy these "Tails" as much as we have. Thank you!!

Gertie
Gertie found her forever parents, Krista and Roger, this morning! Gertie is so happy to be the only spoiled dog in her forever home and excited to dart around her new big backyard. She is already giving her mom lots of kisses!
Krista is OK with being on the Happy Tails page for UYR but does not want to be on any other sites (ie, Facebook).

Dobby
Hello, This is Dobby in Iowa, my foster is now my forever mom!
Thank you UYR for putting me with Susan who would never let me
get away with my aggressive behaviors, and who's family has learned
how to work with my "moods". If not for UYR I would have been
put to sleep. Thank you for my life!
Love, Dobby

Peanut Butter
Hi, Elsa, here is a great picture of Peanut looking happy and ready for Christmas. Thanks to you and all those from United Yorkie Rescue for all you did for this great little guy. He is terrific and adjusting to his new home. And I might add, had a good bill of health from his new Vet. Thanks to your care and efforts.
Happy Holiday and Merry Christmas to all.

Jack and new family

Jack Peppermint
Jack Peppermint has been adopted! It amazes me how these perfect matches appear for these precious pups. Jack is a sweet, lovable, playful boy who wants nothing more than to be with his 'people'. However, he has jealousy issues with other dogs, and combined with his liver shunt, I was worried about placing him. He's going to be the only dog! Perfect. His new family has recently lost their Yorkie after treating him for ten years with inoperable (they tried) multiple liver shunts. They are completely tuned in to Jack's dietary needs and all follow up care. Jack is one lucky boy...and just in time for his first birthday! I wish I had snapped the photo of when he met the whole family. It was as if they'd known each other forever. Jack barked ferociously at everyone when we went for a walk, especially if they were in front of the house as we came outside. His family was just getting out of the car and he ran right up to them without a single bark. Within seconds they were sitting on the ground with him and he was loving it!

Kieffer
We adore and love Kieffer! He is such a joy and he brings a smile to our faces every day. He loves his big brother Spike, they play and have such a good time together, whether it is in the house or outside. They run and chase each other like they have been with each other forever. With Kieffer, we never have a dull moment. We laugh all the time, as Kieffer is a little instigator....if anyone of us isn't paying attention to him, he nuzzles anyone of us until we do. He loves being the center of attention!

Sephora

Sephora
My beautiful Angel Sephora is doing GREAT. We have had little chats about her new life in DC and she keeps licking my face. LOL I took her on her first vet appointment a couple of weeks ago and she went in with her stroller and EVERYONE just fell in love. She LOVES her long walks (even in the cold), she wears little sweaters and pink jackets and is as happy as can be. I learned very quickly she cannot be without a leash at any time, because she wants to chase every squirrel in sight and so we both get a bit of a workout. LOL She is full of energy. She is not so fond of joggers, but I am getting her more and more socialized and take her with me wherever I can. We truly love each other. People can tell how attached we have become. She loves to be in my arms also. If I put her on the floor, she turns into "Jiminy Cricket" and jumps and jumps until I pick her up again. LOL Going to bed together is wonderful...not so much leaving her for work in the morning, but she has gotten use to the routine quickly and does really well with her Nanny for midday walks. She has brightened up my life and I am so grateful to United Yorkie Rescue for making this happen!

Sawyer

Sawyer
Sawyer was first rescued on 04/01/2011. He was adopted to a loving couple. After 16 months he was surrendered back to UYR. Sawyer became extremely stressed around toddler children, and it hurt the family to see him like this. Sawyer has since been adopted. On 10/19/2013 he went Arizona, to be with his loving "Forever" retired mom and fur brother. He is "living the life" of morning walks and cuddling!

Dooley

Dooley
Little 5 lb Dooley came into UYR right before he was going to be euthanized at the shelter. He was surrendered by his owners, who had probably had him all the 10 years of his life, who said they, "didn't want him anymore". He was subsequently diagnosed with Chronic Bronchitis and once his medications were adjusted, he felt better and loved life. He was the sweetest, most affectionate little boy who loved his person ~ his foster parents adored him.
So did his forever mom who saw him on the computer at her home in Michigan and knew he was the one for her. She flew all the way to Florida to adopt this precious little bundle of joy. This is a testimony to the senior dogs - they still have so much love to give and receive - please don't turn away from them because of their age. We are so glad that his new mommy didn't do that..................
Here's what his new mom Ann said about Dooley shortly after her arrived in Michigan ..................
Well this little man Dooley has proven to be a class one traveler. He didn't whine or bark or get sick at the airports or with the flight. He sat in his carrier and was a little gentleman. He has checked the house out downstairs very well. During the day when he's in the house and not walking around the rooms, he rests by the dryer, so I put one of his beds down there for him. He is already attuned to me; when I'm getting ready to leave the house, he will go to his carrier and wait for me. We are going to a class for house-training. Sure hope it teaches him and me some good steps. He continuous to be a great friend and partner. Yes, he still sleeps with me and wants to sit with me when I sit down in my recliner. We are doing great together. Ann
