Rebel and new family

Rebel
01-24-17: When you wait for a rescue for almost 5 months, you know the love this family has to give is boundless. When I met this little boy, I knew there was someone special for him already. This sweet boy took one look at this sweet puppy Carmello, and it was all over...kisses and happiness and where have you been!! Meet Randy, Carmello (female sibling or love) with Fatima and daughter Sofia, and former UYR Rebel who is now Dimitri. They fell in love instantly and his furever life began the minute he met this family. Can't you just see the love! What a wonderful life this baby is going to have. Happy Tails little Dimitri (Rebel)!!

Piper and new mom
|
Piper
1/21/17 In July of 2016 United Yorkie Rescue got an emergency call from an owner wishing to surrender a one year old female Yorkie. The pup had developed a severe case of Pyoderma and was being advised by her vet to euthanize the pup as she was in terrible pain, and the owner could not afford the cost of emergency care. UYR went in to action, assuming responsibility for treatment, immediately the pup was transferred to NC State Veterinary Hospital where she remained in treatment until January of 2017. Each visit during that time showed improvement, and finally after all the medication, the biopsies, shaving, bandages and testing, this little girl was ready for her furever. Boy, had she earned it!
In December Foster mom was contacted by a Veterinarian from the State of Georgia. She had seen Piper, and she would like Piper to come live with her and her little Maltese, Smidgeon. She would be happy to wait until Piper's release from NC State in January and in the meantime, we could begin the adoption process and application approval. United Yorkie Rescue could not have been more shocked, or surprised at the miracle that had just happened. A veterinarian had applied for this special little girl, and this was not just your run of the mill veterinarian. This veterinarian had attended the University of Georgia working toward a Zoology degree before being accepted early into the College of Veterinary Medicine at UGA. After four years of veterinary training, graduated Cum Laude with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 1991. A major milestone in her career was becoming a certified Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) in Canine and Feline Practice form 1998 through 2008, an achievement very few veterinarians accomplish. There could be no Happier Tail than this! See for yourself, the truth is in the picture as Piper and her new mom meet for the first time. Love at first site . . . and off that little girl went, with her furever.
When UYR took Piper in July of 2016, we immediately initiated a go fund me page. With your support to this rescue you donated every penny in which to support the care of this sweet girl. Thank you.
In return, UYR promised to find her the best furever. We believe we did.

Mattie and new mom
|
Mattie
1-21-17 Mattie, one of our sweet Christmas Miracle girls was adopted today. Tiny, 4.5 pound Mattie came to us with 8 other dogs that were taken out of a hoarding situation. She most likely lived in a crate most of her life in a home with at least 40 other dogs. Mattie had very little muscle mass in her legs because of being crated nearly all the time. She was too thin, her teeth were in terrible shape, and her mouth hurt her all the time. She had no idea of house training and of ever being outside. Through lots of love, good food, hard work, and of course medical care Mattie learned what life could be like. She grew stronger and healthier each day. Today Mattie went to her forever home. She will be such a loved dog and treated like the little princess she is. She has a stay at home mom, a wonderful fur sister, and best of all a fenced yard to lay out in the sun. Mattie loves to be in the sun and can lie out there for as long as she is allowed to. Life for this little girl will now always be filled with sunshine and happiness.

T-Bone
1-17-17 T-Bone was surrendered to a shelter when his owners moved to a place that did not allow pets. Poor T-Bone was very afraid at the shelter and growled at the shelter staff so he was labeled as an aggressive dog and was not able to be placed up for general adoption. The shelter staff felt that T-Bone's behavior was largely fear induced so they reached out to UYR to see if we would be willing to take him and work with him to get him past his fear issues. So T-Bone became a United Yorkie Rescue pup and started his lessons in learning to trust. It didn't take long before his foster parents knew he really was a good boy. He just needed a home with adults only who will be patient and understanding and continue to help him overcome his fears. Today T-Bone found his perfect forever home with his forever dad. It will just be T-Bone and his dad forever. His new dad is going to take him everywhere and give him the best life ever. T-Bone will get to go to the park and on trips to visit family and friends. Wherever a pup can go T-Bone will go. In fact his new dad promised that T-Bone would have everything his heart desires except maybe his own TV. He will have to share that with his dad. T-Bone never has to be scared again. His life is now safe and secure. T-Bone is home.

Angel and new mom
|
Angel
Date of Adoption 1-14-17: Angel was one of the 7 Yorkies & Silky Terriers that UYR pulled from a hoarding situation in Texas dubbed Operation Christmas Miracle. She was raised as a puppymill breeder, then went directly into a hoarding situation. Until she was rescued by UYR, she had never known human companionship, love and compassion. Angel was the sickest of the Operation Christmas Miracle dogs. She was emaciated and severely anemic at only 7 lbs and in very poor body condition - she had very little hair on her tiny frail body from such poor nutrition and care. In her foster home, Angel proved to be extraordinarily sweet and docile, accepting of just about anything - she is such a gentle little senior girlie.
Angel had severe glaucoma in her left eye and eye drops did not decrease the pressure, so she had to have the eye removed. Her vision in her right eye is limited, but she gets around the house and yard just fine. She also has an eyelid condition called entropian, and ulcerations on both of her corneas. She had one remaining fractured canine that had to be cut out, and during the dental, it was discovered that she has a previously broken jaw that is not surgically repairable due to the severe bone loss in the area. The bone loss was most likely caused by her teeth rotting in her mouth over a period of time. She must have been in horrendous pain from the rotting teeth and broken jaw for years (she is no longer in pain).
Angel had yeast infections in both ears, and there is evidence she has had this chronic condition for many years. She also had a previously ruptured eardrum, and now has compromised hearing as a result of this neglect and/or abuse.
Angel also came in with mammary masses in both chains - biopsies were taken during surgery, and came back as adenocarcinoma. It is also possible that the cancer may have metabolized to other parts of her body.
At her last vet appointment to check her ears, the vet and foster mom had a long discussion about Angel undergoing two double mastectomy surgeries. Together with the vet, for many reasons, it was decided that it would be too much for Angel to endure. She is very fragile, and is probably closer to 14-15 years old instead of 12-13 years old.
Foster Mom decided that this sweet girl has suffered enough and wanted to give Angel the joy of belonging to a family for the first time in her life. So Foster Mom adopted Angel and hopes to hopefully have her long enough so that she knows that her life DID matter and that she WAS loved and cherished.
Angel is a survivor, although she went through a lot of suffering, pain and neglect during her lifetime. Please remember, for years Angel suffered at the hands of the puppymiller who only breeds for greed. Her puppies made their way out for the most part by being sold to pet stores around the country. Angel was imprisoned in the puppymill, then with a hoarder. Please consider the Angels left in puppymills before purchasing a dog from a pet store. That's where all the puppies in pet stores originate. No responsible breeder would ever allow their puppies to be sold in a pet store Adopt. Don't Shop. If reading Angel's story will deter just one family from purchasing a puppy from a pet store, then her life has absolutely been worth the price she paid in her health. She is a jewel and perfect in the eyes of her new mom who adores her.

Margo, Polo and new family
|
Polo
1-8-17 Polo and Margo have found furever. Nestled on the corner off the beaten path in Columbia, SC a wonderful couple who are semi-retired have welcomed these two in to their beautiful home. They have a spacious home with a great deck off the back and a well manicured back yard. When Margo and Polo saw the back yard, both ran down the deck steps and immediately began exploring, tails were wagging as they explored around, under, and in every azalea bush out there. Margo was smiling and jumping and just as happy as she could be, and well, Polo has found his Bestest Friend in his new dad. I knew they were home. After our visit, and it was time for me to head back to NC, they all walked me out to my car. As I looked in my rear view mirror, I saw two happy little tails walking up the sidewalk with their new furever mom and dad. I don't know who was more excited, the pups exploring their new home and surroundings, or Mom and Dad, introducing their new pups to the neighborhood. It was certainly a Welcome to Furever, with love.

Bandit, Cookie and new mom
|
Bandit
1-4-17 Bandit came to United Yorkie Rescue with a torn cruciate ligament. He saw the specialist to see if he can have his ligament surgically repaired. It wasn't to be. It wasn't long before Bandit's vet told his foster mom that the leg just couldn't be saved and it would need to be amputated. After Bandit's surgery he no longer had any pain. Bandit became the happiest 3 legged pup. He didn't miss that leg or the pain it gave him for one second. While in his foster home Bandit became best friends with his foster sister Cookie. They did everything together, they ate together, slept together, and hung out together all day long. Bandit made it his job to make sure Cookie was protected and safe no matter what she did or where she was. They were inseparable. And then the best thing in the world happened. They were adopted together by the most wonderful mom. Bandit and Cookie will live happily ever after with their stay at home mom, their fur brother, and their three new cat friends. Bandit and Cookie are together forever.

Cookie
1-4-17 Sweet Cookie was one of our Christmas miracle pups. She came to us from a hoarding situation where she was one of 40 dogs living in crates, crammed into a single home. It is likely Cookie spent most of her 11 years in a crate with very little human interaction. Cookie has a cataract in her right eye and no teeth from bad food and lack of dental care, but that hasn't stopped her from being such a happy girl. Cookie has never met a stranger, she just loves everyone. But it was her one very special friend that made Cookie the happiest. When Cookie met Bandit, her foster brother, she knew she found a friend for life. They did everything together. they ate, slept, and hung out together all day long. Where one was the other was not far away. Bandit became Cookie's guardian and watched over her constantly. Today Cookie was adopted with her best friend Bandit. The now have a wonderful new mom, a new fur brother, and three new kitty friends. Cookie and Bandit are together forever.

Chewy
1-3-17 Chewy was adopted today and what a great mom and dad he now has. When Chewy's primary owner moved away and the family that took him in just didn't have the time Chewy needed they knew that United Yorkie Rescue would find him the home he needed. He now has a mom and dad who will be home with him all the time and Chewy will get so much attention he will be the happiest pup in the world. True to his name, Chewy loves to chew on doggie approved bones and hard toys. His new mom and dad have promised Chewy that he will always have a supply of chew bones and toys and more love than he could ever imagine. Nothing but Happy Days are ahead for Chewy.

Alexis and new mom

Alexis
12-30-16 Happy New Year to Alexis. She was adopted today and now has a wonderful new home. Alexis did great in her former home until the babies started to walk and they thought Alexis was their little toy. She was very unhappy and feeling stressed and ignored. Her owners knew Alexis needed to be in a home with no children and have a mom and dad who were there most of the day to take care of her, love her, and shower her with kisses and attention. Today Alexis found just that perfect home. She has a stay at home mom and dad and she will be their only baby to love for all her life. Alexis will get to go everywhere a pup can go. She will have lots of toys and doggie beds. Most of all Alexis will know that she is finally at home to stay.

Maverick
12-28-16 Maverick had no idea that life for him was going to get amazingly better the day he and several of his housemates were taken from their home where he and 40 other dogs all lived. Maverick was part of the Christmas Miracle when United Yorkie Rescue rescued 8 yorkies out of a hoarding situation. Before becoming a United Yorkie Rescue dog Maverick never knew the attention and kindness or even the touch of a person. He only knew life in a crate surrounded by so many other dogs. Maverick spent a short time in his foster home when just the exact right family knew he was meant to be their forever and ever dog. He will never again be left in a crate for hours and hours. He has a wonderful home and a living human to care for him. Maverick will get all the attention, love, and care he had never received before. Maverick would be the first to tell you that there is nothing better than the love of a mom and dad and the freedom of being allowed to go outside, to run around if he wants, or even to just sit in the warm sun. With overflowing happiness for Maverick, we know he is home at last.

Layla
12-26-16 For Layla, one of our Christmas miracle pups, had her second miracle today. She was adopted by a great family who are ready to make her their new Christmas baby. Layla spent the first year and half of her life getting almost no human attention, care, or love. She found all that in her foster home and while she was there, she learned that people can be kind, caring, and can be trusted. Today, the day after Christmas, she went to her forever home and that love, kindness, and caring she had come to know will continue. She has a wonderful mom and dad, two older real boys, and a puppy just about her size who is ready to play, play, play with Layla. She has everything a young pup could want. A wonderful forever home, a great human family, and a full time playmate who is just a little younger than her. They will grow up together and be friends forever. From a home with 40 other dogs and so much neglect to a wonderful family with a new playmate and so much love, Layla found her happy life for sure.

Frankie
12-2-16 Frankie is just the happiest, sweetest fellow. This young pup was surrendered to United Yorkie Rescue because his former family knew that such a young, energetic dog needed someone home with him much more than they were able to be. He needed someone to help him with his house training and give him the opportunity to run around and play with other dogs. Frankie is such an all around great dog. He loves people, other dogs, and just about anyone and everyone who will give him attention to him and play wit him and be his friend. Frankie found a perfect forever home. He has a stay at home mom and dad, doggie friends that live right on his street, and the promise of dog parks, car trips, and days spent with fun and game and love and attention. Frankie won't ever be left alone again. His mom and dad have promised him that where ever they go he goes too.

He has a new older fur brother, a nice big fenced yard, and even a stroller to ride in when he gets tired of walking. In his last home he wasn't taken very good care of and was left on his own a lot. That won't ever be the case again. He will now be getting all the care and love that any dog could ever get. Sweet Teddy Bear is truly home for the holidays, forever.

Mimi
12-22-16 Mini Mimi was adopted today. This tiny sweetheart, only 6 years old and just 4 pounds, was rescued from a neglectful and unfortunate situation. She was severely matted and undernourished. Her coat was dirty and her skin was dry. Her coat was so bad she had to be shaved completely down. Her teeth were in horrible shape, probably causing her a lot of pain.Mimi was taken to the vet right away and was started on her road to recovery and a healthy life. Her teeth were fixed, she was spayed, vaccinated, and given medication to begin her healing. Under the wonderful care of United Yorkie Rescue and her terrific foster mom Mimi gained some weight and became a playful little pup. She loved being petted and cuddled by her people. All she needed was her forever home. That happened for little Mimi today. She went to a wonderful home with a perfect mom and dad and a new fur brother to hang out with. Mimi will continue to be loved and cared for for the rest of her life. Mimi's new mom and dad will shower her with love and affection. Mimi has a real true family and a home forever.

Diesel
12-18-16 It took a while but finally someone realized what a great little dog Diesel is. Diesel came to his foster home back in April. He was surrendered when his human Mommy passed away and the remaining family could not take care of him. They reached out to United Yorkie Rescue to find him his perfect forever home. Diesel has Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency. His pancreas is not able to make the enzymes necessary for food digestion. This is easily managed with the right diet and special enzymes added to his food daily. So he waited in his wonderful foster home for the right people to come along and know he was worth the care and love he deserved in spite of the EPI. And today it happened! Diesel was adopted by the most wonderful people. They knew they loved him the second they saw him, and Diesel knew he loved them right back. He now has a stay at home mom and dad and will have so many friends in his neighborhood to hang out with. He will be the only dog in is new home and that's just the way he likes it. He gets all the love and all the attention. It took some time but it was worth it. Diesel is home at last and it will be forever.
