Date of Adoption 1-14-17: Angel was one of the 7 Yorkies & Silky Terriers that UYR pulled from a hoarding situation in Texas dubbed Operation Christmas Miracle. She was raised as a puppymill breeder, then went directly into a hoarding situation. Until she was rescued by UYR, she had never known human companionship, love and compassion. Angel was the sickest of the Operation Christmas Miracle dogs. She was emaciated and severely anemic at only 7 lbs and in very poor body condition - she had very little hair on her tiny frail body from such poor nutrition and care. In her foster home, Angel proved to be extraordinarily sweet and docile, accepting of just about anything - she is such a gentle little senior girlie.

Angel had severe glaucoma in her left eye and eye drops did not decrease the pressure, so she had to have the eye removed. Her vision in her right eye is limited, but she gets around the house and yard just fine. She also has an eyelid condition called entropian, and ulcerations on both of her corneas. She had one remaining fractured canine that had to be cut out, and during the dental, it was discovered that she has a previously broken jaw that is not surgically repairable due to the severe bone loss in the area. The bone loss was most likely caused by her teeth rotting in her mouth over a period of time. She must have been in horrendous pain from the rotting teeth and broken jaw for years (she is no longer in pain).

Angel had yeast infections in both ears, and there is evidence she has had this chronic condition for many years. She also had a previously ruptured eardrum, and now has compromised hearing as a result of this neglect and/or abuse.

Angel also came in with mammary masses in both chains - biopsies were taken during surgery, and came back as adenocarcinoma. It is also possible that the cancer may have metabolized to other parts of her body.

At her last vet appointment to check her ears, the vet and foster mom had a long discussion about Angel undergoing two double mastectomy surgeries. Together with the vet, for many reasons, it was decided that it would be too much for Angel to endure. She is very fragile, and is probably closer to 14-15 years old instead of 12-13 years old.

Foster Mom decided that this sweet girl has suffered enough and wanted to give Angel the joy of belonging to a family for the first time in her life. So Foster Mom adopted Angel and hopes to hopefully have her long enough so that she knows that her life DID matter and that she WAS loved and cherished.

Angel is a survivor, although she went through a lot of suffering, pain and neglect during her lifetime. Please remember, for years Angel suffered at the hands of the puppymiller who only breeds for greed. Her puppies made their way out for the most part by being sold to pet stores around the country. Angel was imprisoned in the puppymill, then with a hoarder. Please consider the Angels left in puppymills before purchasing a dog from a pet store. That's where all the puppies in pet stores originate. No responsible breeder would ever allow their puppies to be sold in a pet store Adopt. Don't Shop. She is a jewel and perfect in the eyes of her new mom who adores her.
