Roxie
4-14-19 Roxie got adopted today! It was a miracle. From one of the worst puppy mills in the United States to a forever home. Can anything be better? Roxie was one of the 20 dogs United Yorkie Rescue rescued from that awful, horrible puppy mill in Georgia. She came into her foster home never having known life outside of a dirty wire crate, She didn't know a human touch or the love for and by a human. She had no idea what grass was nor life outside of the warehouse where her crate was stacked one on top of another and another.
Roxie thrived in her foster home. She learned how to eat and drink from a bowl. She began to allow her Foster Mom to pick her up. And then her tail began to wag and it never stopped, it wagged all the time. Roxie learned about going outside to do her business. She learned that being outside in the yard was a great place to run around and have fun in and just how nice it was to lay on the grass and soak up the sun. Roxie discovered toys and how much fun they are to play with. Mostly Roxie learned that people can be kind and loving and that she can trust them.
Today, at 5 years old, Roxie became somebody's baby for the first time in her life. She has a stay at home mom and a little fur sister. Roxie will never be alone. She will be taken on long walks and have a house full of toys and love. She is so happy and so loved. Hooray, Roxie. We are so happy for you.

Sammy and Georgie with their adoptive family
I am so happy with my new adoptive family.
|
Sammy
HAPPY TAILS BIO 04/08/2019: Sammy, along with his little buddy Georgie, were adopted into the same foster home today - hooray! These boys who came from the same puppy mill had never met prior to being placed in the same foster home. Although Sammy is 5 years old, he instantly bonded to 8 month old puppy Georgie and Georgie looked up to Sammy for comfort and security.
Sammy's life was so terribly sad in the puppy mill where he was born into and lived his entire life in a cage making beautiful little yorkie puppies. But UYR wanted to make sure that never happened. He adapted quickly in his foster home, becoming brave and confident and playful, and will now only know kind and loving words and lots of love in his new furever home.
His adoptive family loved him and Georgie before they even met them and knew that these boys were destined to be part of their family. They will have a couple of larger dogs for companions and to show them the ropes of being a member of a loving pack, as well as several kitty cats to play with as well. Although Sammy and Georgie had never seen a kitty cat, they didn't react at all, probably thinking the cats were odd-looking and smelling doggies like them! Have a Happy Life Sweet Sammy - your foster family will never ever forget you!
04/13/2019: Here's an update from Sammy & Georgie's Foster Mom: "We are just having a blast with our two new additions Sammy (renamed Ollie since there was a kitty cat in the home already named Sammy) & Georgie. Both are adjusting well and much better than I expected. They love their play place and sleep comfortably in it every night, until about 4 AM which seems to be the time that they want to wake up and play. House training is going pretty well, only a couple of accidents. They get to go outside and play every two hours and they seem to love the big yard. We have only taken them on a couple of walks this week. One walk only lasted to the end of the driveway. The next walk lasted about three or four houses down. So, that's progress. They are very affectionate and love to cuddle with us. When they are not in our laps, they are following us around the house. It's so cute. They had their first bath yesterday. Georgie fought it but he was so happy to be clean and fresh that he ran around about 100 miles an hour in excitement. These two are absolutely precious. We are all completely in love with them! Thanks for all you did to save these babies and deliver them to our family. We are so grateful!"

Georgie
HAPPY TAILS BIO 04/08/2019: Georgie, along with his buddy Sammy, were adopted into the same foster home today - hooray! These boys who came from the same puppy mill had never met prior to being placed in the same foster home. Although Georgie was only a puppy @ 8 months old, he instantly bonded to Sammy who is 5 years old and followed him everywhere and did everything Sammy did.
Georgie's life was so terribly sad in the puppy mill where he was born into and was being raised to likely live his entire life in a cage making beautiful little maltese puppies. But UYR wanted to make sure that never happened. He slowly became less fearful in his foster home, although it will take a longer while for him to completely trust people again. He is a playful and happy little puppy who will now only know kind and loving words and lots of love in his new furever home.
His adoptive family loved him and Sammy before they even met them and knew that these boys were destined to be part of their family. They will have a couple of larger dogs for companions and to show them the ropes of being a member of a loving pack, as well as several kitty cats to play with as well. Mia and her new mommy. She loves Mia so much.
|
Mia
4-6-19 Mia was adopted today. It didn't start out so great for Mia. Little 5.5-pound Mia was pregnant with 3 puppies. Being so small she could not deliver them and after trying for 3 days to give birth she had to have a C-Section. Two puppies died and one lived a short time. When Mia came to her foster home she was in pain after having been in labor for almost 3 days before receiving her surgery. Since there were no puppies to nurse her nipples were swollen and engorged and painful. She had a surgical scar from the C- Section that hurt her too. Being in such pain Mia was snapping and nipping at anyone who tried to pick her up or bother her.
When Mia finally started healing and was feeling better she became a playful, much happier little dog. She decided she loved her foster mom and dad and wanted to be with them as much as she could. She stopped snapping and only wanted cuddling and love. Mia also decided that she does not like any of the other dogs in the house. She didn't want to share what she thought were her toys, her doggie bed, or anything she decided was hers with any other dog. That was when Mia's foster parents realized that Mia would be the happiest if she was the only dog in the house. Mia needed to be the only one getting all the love and attention, all the toys, and all the cuddles.
Today Mia found all that love and all that attention. She went to her forever home with her forever mommy. She has a mommy who is home all the time and there is not a single other dog or cat, bird or fish, to take the attention and love that is now all Mia's. There were already toys and doggie beds waiting for Mia when she arrived at her new home. Her new mommy is so excited to have her own special fur baby and Mia has found the life she always wanted. They are ready to love each other for as long as their forever lasts. Happy Tails sweet little Mia, we are so happy for you.

Glory
4-3-19 Glory, one of our puppy mill pups, was adopted today. Sweet Glory our little Yorkie/Maltese mix (a Morkie) only knew life in a wire crate. The only reason she was allowed to live was to make puppies and more puppies for the puppy mill's horrible owner to sell. She was inside a warehouse where her crate was stacked on top of others. She never saw the sun, touched the grass, or knew love. That all changed when she was rescued with lots of her brothers and sisters by United Yorkie Rescue. In her foster home she experienced love for the first time. She saw the sun, touched and ran in grass, and even got to play with toys. She learned it was a wonderful world after all. As happy as Glory was in her foster home, she was hoping to one day have a home of her own where she would be someone's forever baby. Today she became someone little girl. She has a brand new mom and dad and a fur brother to play with whenever she wants. There are even three human kids too. Glory has it all. From a wire crate for the first 4 years of her life to the best forever a pup could ever want or hope for. Happy tails, Glory. Your best life is happening now.

Webster
4-3-19 Until a short time ago, Webster spent his days confined to a cage in a horrific puppy mill with over 700 other dogs. Still, Webster did not give up hope and that hope paid off. Today, Webster checked EVERY BOX on his PAWFECT FUREVER HOME WISH LIST! He has two loving humans to call his very own and will soon have a best Fur-Friend and sister rescued from the same puppy mill. Life just doesn't get much better and Webster deserves to have it ALL! Happy Tails Webster! We are so happy for you.

Magee
3-31-19 Magee got adopted today! Wow, from one of the worst puppy mills in the United States to a forever home. Can anything be better? Magee was one of the 20 dogs United Yorkie Rescue rescued from that awful, horrible puppy mill in Georgia. She came into her foster home never having known life outside of a dirty wire crate or the touch or love of a human person. She had no idea what grass was nor life outside of the warehouse where her crate was stacked one on top of another and another.
Magee thrived in her foster home. She began to allow her Foster Mom to pick her up, which wasn't the case when she first arrived because she had never been handled with loving hands before. She learned about going outside to do her business. She learned that being outside in the fenced yard was a great place to run around and have fun in. Magee discovered toys and how much fun they are to play with. Magee especially learned that people can be kind and loving and that she can trust them.
Magee was learning everything and quickly came to love people. She had all her vetting done and except for dry eye, which will need drops for her life, Magee had it all but her forever home.
Today, at 5 years old, Magee became somebody's baby for the first time in her life. Her new mom works from home so Magee will never be alone. She will be taken on long walks and have a house full of toys and love. Magee is the first of our 20 puppy mill dogs to get adopted. She is so happy and she knows soon enough the others will also get their wonderful forever homes. Hooray, Magee. We are so happy for you.

Wrigley
3-27-19 Wonderful Wrigley was adopted today. This little 5-year-old guy found himself in the shelter waiting for his family to come find him. Sadly no one came for him until United Yorkie Rescue decided to take a chance on this sweet boy. Yes, we said take a chance because the shelter news was not all good. However, in spite of what the shelter said United Yorkie Rescue could not leave this young, adorable fellow to languish in the shelter any longer. The shelter vet detected a possible grade 5 out of 6 heart murmur. Their vet also said there may be a possibility of Mitral Valve Disease (MVD), though no tests were done to substantiate this. Wrigley did need a dental because he had a lot of tater, and live fleas were found on him. The shelter gave him flea preventative and a dewormer, but nothing else. Wrigley was so happy to be out of that shelter and into his foster home. His foster parents said he is such a good boy. He is active, playful, and full of love for everyone.
Wrigley's foster parents took him to the specialist for an echocardiogram to see how bad his heart really was, and the news was not good. He definitely had a severe heart murmur and he had mitral valve disease. There is no cure of fix for this in a dog, the only hope is that the progression of the heart disease would be slow and Wrigley will have years left. No one will know how quickly the MVD will progress for a few months when he gets his next echocardiogram. Still, even with having MVD the best thing ever happened to Wrigley. Wrigley got adopted. And not only that his new mommy has promised that whatever the next echocardiogram shows, whether he has a year or 10 years she will love him and care for him and be there for him until the very end no matter when that end is. We all hope for a long, long life for Wrigley. There is no better dog ever and if anyone deserves a long happy life it is wonderful Wrigley. We hope he gets it too. Happy tails sweet boy. You life will be nothing but love and more love for now and for however long your forever and ever is.

Tootsie
3-23-19 Tootsie was adopted today. This sweet girl and her brother were turned into the local shelter by their owner. Her brother was very sick and died that same day, and Tootsie in pain from a big bladder stone was alone in the shelter. The shelter took care of her, they gave her the surgery she needed and found a wonderful resuce to take her. She was in the care of the other resuce for a little while, but she was the only small dog among bigger ones, her foster mom was concerned for her safety. She called United Yorkie Rescue, explained the situation, and of course we would take her. We learned that Tootsie doesn't like children and then found she has some small little tumors around all her nipples except for two. Tootsie underwent another surgery, thankfully the little masses were all benign and once Tootsie was healed she was ready for her forever home. Today Tootsie got her forever home and her new forever family. Tootsie will be the most loved and cared for girl in the world. As soon as Tootsie met her new mom she gave her lots and lots of kisses. She knew she was home at last. We are so so happy for Tootsie. Sweeter than a tootsie roll and twice as good. Happy tails little Tootsie. Your best life started today and will last your lifetime.

Clooney
3-23-19 Clooney was adopted today. Hooray!! Clooney had a sad life prior to coming into United Yorkie Rescue. He was rescued from an open balcony in a high-rise apartment complex by concerned and benevolent strangers. They kept hearing a dog bark for three weeks but couldn't figure out where it was coming from. When they went into the empty apartment to clean it out there they found this young dog who they realized had been abandoned for three weeks. There he was on the open balcony with only a soggy wet bag of dog food, no doggie bed, no toys, no blanket, - nothing but three l-o-n-g weeks of loneliness and despair. Clooney's foster mom promised him that would never ever happen to him again. She assured him from now on until forever he would be loved and cared for. His sad days were over. Today Clooney went to his forever home. His new mom and dad love him so much and couldn't believe how lucky they were that they were chosen to be Clooney's forever mom and dad. Really it is Clooney who is the lucky one. He has a stay at home mom and dad who will love this young boy forever and ever. Clooney is so happy to be their forever boy and have a family of his own, and like his foster mom promoted, forever and ever.

Romeo is so loved by his new mom and dad.

Romeo
3/14/19 After almost 7 months as a United Yorkie Rescue dog Romeo was adopted today. It finally happened. Romeo found his wonderful new mom and dad. Romeo is not able to hold his head up due to a neck and upper spine deformity from birth. After many vet visits, lots of medications tried, and an expensive MRI it was decided that Romeo does not have a life threatening disease nor will his life be shortened because of the deformity. He is such a sweet, loving little dog of only just 5 pounds. Romeo loved his foster home but he preferred getting the love and attention himself. He loves to play with toys, but he mostly loved being held and cuddled by his foster mom. His foster mom knew he needed to be an only dog and today he was adopted by his new mom and dad. He loved them and they loved him from the first. They didn't care that he couldn't always hold his head up and that sometimes he was a little shaky on his feet because of it. They promised him a lifetime of love and happiness. It was a long time coming, but today Romeo found his happily ever after forever.

Bella
3/14/19 Beautiful Bella was adopted today. Bella spent the first 8 years of her life with her one mommy. Then sadly one day her mommy died and Bella went to live with a family that were relatives of her mommy. As much as Bella wanted a new family, this was not the right one for her. There were little kids who thought she was a toy and tried to carry her all over the place. It was not safe for them to do that and Bella was scared. Not only were there little kids, but there were two young, big dogs who seemed like giants to a dog as small as Bella. They didn't hurt her, they just wanted to play with her. Bella was afraid they would hurt her. Bella was spending most of her time hiding from the kids and the big dogs. Her new family really did love her and they wanted her, but they knew they were not the right family for her, and with much sadness they knew Bella had to become a United Yorkie rescue pup.
Bella did great in her foster home, though things about her health were discovered, and it wasn't all great news. Her spay surgery revealed that she had hydrometra - which is the accumulation of a sterile water or mucous secretion in the uterus. In addition she had a small mammary tumor, which was removed. Her mouth and face were extremely sensitive because the 4 remaining teeth she had were so rotten that pus came out when the teeth were removed.
The other bad news was the vet determined that Bella had Grade 4/6 heart murmur. She had an echocardiogram, which confirmed that her heart murmur is due to Mitral Valve Regurgitation (MVD) - this means that her mitral valve is not working like it's supposed to. The vets said that the MVD is considered mild at this time and she didn't need any treatment/meds, but it may worsen over time. Even with that news her new mom didn't care. She is ready to take Bella into her life, and her heart, and her home, and give her the forever life she needed and deserved. Her new mommy will care for any medical issues that may come up as she gets older and will be there for her until the very end. Bella will be the only dog in her life. Bella will be surrounded with everything she needs now and may need in the future to insure that she has a long and happy life forever.

Rex and his new mom. I love my mom
I have a new home and a new mom
|
Rex
3-13-19 Rex was adopted today. This adorable 7.5-year-old fellow's former mom could no longer care for him due to her declining health and becoming more and more frail. Rex was becoming confused, anxious, and protective of her. He was being shuffled between family members and being boarded at the vet clinic during the many hospitalizations his former mom was having. Rex is really a sweet dog, but all these changes and the fact that his mom was not there for him anymore was taking its toll on Rex. His former mom's family knew Rex needed to find a stable home where he could get the love and attention he needed for the rest of his life. When Rex became a United Yorkie Rescue dog his foster mom promised him that is exactly what she would make sure he got. Today that happened for this wonderful little guy. Rex will be the only pup in his new mom's life. There is a nice fenced yard and she promised Rex lots of walks and trips to the dog park in case he wanted to play with the other neighborhood dogs. He will share her bed and her life every day for the rest of his life. Rex is so happy, and has given his new mom lots of kisses already. He has the home his foster mom promised him he would have. Happy Tails sweet Rex. Home again, at last.
