Rusty
5-31-19 Rusty came to us in February undernourished and sick. You could see and feel his backbone. It was so sad. After his vet visit and blood work we found that his kidney levels were high and he has a Grade III/VI heart murmur. There was no medications indicated for his heart, but he was started on antibiotics and a special kidney diet. He foster mom started him on Azodyl to help support healthy kidney functions. Rusty also needed a dental badly. We knew his mouth had to be hurting him. After being in his United Yorkie Rescue foster home for 3.5 months and feeling so much better we knew this great, sweet, and loving dog was ready for his forever home.
Today was that day. Rusty was adopted to the best mom ever. It was love, love, love the minute they saw each other. It will be Rusty and his mom together, forever. Rusty is even going to go to school to learn to be a therapy dog. He will have a wonderful home with a fenced yard and a dog park right in the neighborhood. We are so happy for Rusty. His forever home the best home in the world for a dog as wonderful as Rusty.

Tucker
5/30/19 Tucker was adopted today. When little Tucker was surrendered to United Yorkie Rescue by his owner early in December of 2018 we were given a brief history on a right forelimb break that happened approximately two years before. It was only when the vet notes were sent to us that it was revealed that Tucker had fractures in both forelimbs. Tucker's general practice vet bandaged and splinted the fractures but continued to strongly recommend that Tucker be seen by a veterinarian orthopedist. Sadly, that didn't happen. In spite of these injuries Tucker is an amazingly strong and courageous little boy who tried to enjoy his young doggie life in spite of the serious injuries to both of his forelimbs.
Tucker had a consultation with an orthopedic veterinarian and new radiographs were taken. These radiographs showed the great extent not only of his initial injuries, but because he continued to walk on his broken legs, more bone damage occurred and was revealed in the new radiographs. This was devastating news to our UYR family, and we were so saddened that Tucker has had to suffer with these untreated injuries for two years. After seeing several orthopedic specialists, Tucker was ready for his big surgery. This surgical correction would involve cutting the bone and realignment and stabilizing both legs with bone plates, bone grafts, and screws. His healing could take up to 16 weeks.
Finally after 16 weeks the orthopedic surgeon pronounced that Tucker was healed. The cast was removed and his could slowly begin to put weight on it and use his leg as it should be. Tucker will finally be ready for his forever home and today we are so happy to say that Tucker has been adopted.
What a bittersweet day for his Foster Mommy. Foster Mommy has been caring for this little munchkin for 16 weeks and has loved every minute of it. She is so going to miss Tuck so very much but the GREAT news is that his new forever ANGEL MOM lives right in the same neighborhood as Foster Mommy. Foster Mommy, now Auntie Pat, will be able to visit so often and stay in Tuck's life. Tucker has sure found his best forever home with his new Mommy and FUR Brother Rico. Tucker and Rico fell in love and bonded at first sight. Tucker, all of us have followed your progress, we have all hoped and prayed for you and have patiently waited for this day. We all love you and congratulations on your new forever home and life. Happy Tails little Tucker. You deserve to have the best life ever.

Pinky loves her mom and dad
|
Pinky
5-29-19 Pretty Pinky was adopted today. Pinky was rescued from a high kill shelter in Alabama where her owner turned in Pinky and her brother. They were both underweight and sick. Pinky's brother had heartworms and was very sick. He didn't make it. He died two days after being turned in to the shelter. Pinky was also underweight and sick. She couldn't make the first transport to Florida because of her weakened state. Pinky spent the 2 weeks in an Alabama temporary foster home where she was cared for and received vet care until she was healthy enough to travel to Florida. Finally early in April Pinky was well enough to come to Florida and continue to receive care and get healthier and healthier. After being in her foster home for almost two months she was ready for her foster home and today that happened. This happy little girl who loves to snuggle and play found the perfect mom and dad. She will be the center of their world and get all the attention and so much love and kissing and cuddling. Pinky will be so happy and so loved. Happy Tails to Princess Pinky.

Mia is so happy with her moms and fur brother. Hooray for Mia.

Mia
5-29-19 Mia was adopted today. Mia came into United Yorkie Rescue only a few weeks after she had a spay surgery and dental. Unfortunately those surgeries were done by an unlicensed vet and were botched terribly. As a result, her spay sutures had not closed properly and were stitched with inferior material. On top of that the sutures were put in too deeply and the repair had not closed properly. Mia would have to have the sutures removed and the incision repaired correctly. If that wasn't bad enough there was an apparent attempt to clean her teeth, which resulted in more problems and exposed roots, which were very painful for Mia. And so when Mia became a United Yorkie Rescue dog she faced reparative surgery for the botched spay and dental. A few days after Mia arrived at her foster home she had her surgery. The botched spay was repaired, and to correct the dental and the damage done to her mouth and teeth most all of her teeth had to be pulled leaving her with only a few teeth left. Finally after she healed from the second surgeries she was completely recovered, and was ready to find her forever home. Her foster parents knew, in her forever home, she would need at least one stay at home parent because Mia hated being alone. Mia found that perfect forever home today. She has two great moms and one is that stay at home mom she needs. She also has a fur brother, a fenced yard, toys and doggie beds, and more love than any pup could ever want. Mia found her happily forever and ever after life and home.

Angel and her new mom. Happy days.
|
Angel
05/18/2019: Little Angel was previously surrendered to UYR because her owner had some serious health set-backs and could no longer care for Angel. She is a sweet little girlie who is healthy and happy, although she needed some reinforcement on house-training and some resource guarding behavior. She did so well in her foster home and even though she had gone through quite a few losses in the past six months in her former home, she adapted quite well and learned that she did not need to guard her person - that she only needed to learn to be cherished and loved as a companion dog. Her foster parents were so proud of her accomplishments during her fostering period.
Angel's adopter works from home and has experience with dogs that need to be reminded that they do not always have to be anxious and on-guard with their human family. She will get all the attention she wants and now has a little tiny senior poodle companion named Tinkerbell to keep her company. Angel will enjoy having her mom home most of the time, and will also enjoy going on outings with her, including yoga and dance classes. Angel's foster parents will miss her so much, but know that the perfect home was found for her so that she can continue to be a little Princess who is so loved. Have a happy life Angel!

Dolly
5-9-18 Dolly was adopted today! It was a miracle. From one of the worst puppy mills in the United States to a forever home, can anything be better? Dolly was one of the 20 dogs United Yorkie Rescue rescued from that awful, horrible puppy mill in Georgia. She came into her foster home never having known life outside of a dirty wire crate, She didn't know a human touch or the love for and by a human. She had no idea what grass was nor life outside of the warehouse where her crate was stacked one on top of another and another.
Dolly, who is a miniature Schnauzer mix thrived in her foster home. She learned how to eat and drink from a bowl. She began to allow her Foster Mom to pick her up. And then her tail began to wag and it never stopped, it wagged all the time. Dolly learned about going outside to do her business. She learned that being outside in the yard was a great place to be. She and her foster brother would lie on the grass and soak up the sun. Dolly discovered toys and how much fun they are to play with. Mostly Dolly learned that people can be kind and loving and that she can trust them.
Today Dolly became somebody's baby for the first time in her life. She has a wonderful new family and and will be the center of their world. Dolly will never be alone again. She even has a fur sister who is just her size. They are already liking each other and hanging out together. They have a house full of toys and doggie beds. She has a nice yard with a fence, which is perfect for Dolly and her fur sister to walk around in and lie down in the grass and enjoy the warm sun. Dolly will enjoy her new life so much. She now has a life full of love and happiness. Hooray for Dolly. We are so happy for you.
