HAPPY TAILS
At United Yorkie Rescue we are blessed with an extraordinary success rate in finding forever homes for our rescued foster dogs. To share this joy we've created this "Happy Tails" page. Happy Tails is devoted to the celebration of these wonderful stories with everyone who loves dogs. We hope that you enjoy these "Tails" as much as we have. Thank you!!

Lucy
Hi everyone! My name used to be Lucy but I didn't know my name so my new family named me Chloe. I'm doing very well at my new home! I have an older but much larger sister named Macey. She loves me and I love playing with her! She is so much fun to chase around the house and yard. I actually think we are the same size even though I weigh 11 pounds and she weighs 100 pounds.
I'm so happy with my new family! I'm getting all the love and attention I deserve. The kids love to play with me and carry me around. My dad sleeps on the couch with me and puts me in his jacket while we are playing on the computer. I think I might be getting a little spoiled! I follow my mom everywhere she goes. She loves taking me on walks several times a day and let's me get lots of exercise! I am finally at home with a family that loves me. Life doesn't get much better than this!

Monty
Monty (now Bailey :) is a blessing in our lives! He is the most loving, well-adjusted, spunky little puppy. We couldn't have asked for a better dog. He loves being outside and does a little dance every time his leash comes out. The only thing that can MAYBE rival a walk is food! He loves to eat and is not picky at all, dry food makes him happy as can be.
Every morning he sleeps until we wake up, but as soon as we stir, his little teddy-bear face pops up and he stretches his arms out and crawls over for a cuddle. He loves cuddles in the morning before we get out of bed and at night before we go to sleep. And when you pick him up, he's like butter in your arms. When he's not sleeping or cuddling, he's playing with his squeaky toys! He loves to run after them when we throw them and then secure them by racing to his bed with the toy in his mouth.
He loves his golden retreiver brother, Cody, and meeting other dogs on all of our daily walks. Everyone in the neighborhood knows his name! And any visitor to our home is greated with a dance and and a doggie hug as he stretches his litte furry arms up their legs. Everyone thinks he is so cute - we have a lot more visitors these days!
When we first got him, he was constantly darting out the door and running away. It was very scary and we were so nervous we were going to lose him that way. But he has calmed down big time. We got a doggy-gate at the top of the stairs and I am working on training him to sit and stay at the door every time we go out. He must wait until I step outside and tell him he can go. This is helping him learn some "door manners" so we can keep him safe! And he is so smart, he's picking it up fast. He can also sit, stay, lay down, come and get down on command.
Adopting Bailey from United Yorkie Rescue was the best decision we ever made. I don't think we could have found a better dog in the whole wide world, we love our little man - thank you!

Murphy
Here are some pictures of the boys, all three of them, Murphy, Frankie, and Morgan. They have become best buddies and race around the back yard like maniacs. Morgan is very careful not to be too rough with the little ones, but they are both pretty scrappy little guys. They let us know if someone is coming near their house or yard and are ready to tear them limb from limb.
We dearly love our boys, and are so happy that we have all three. They went to our vet to be introduced and give him their papers. Murphy and Frankie are going to be groomed on Sep. 13.
Will give you an update in the fall. Let us hear from you from time to time.

 Chico and his new family

Chico
Hi Auntie Jenn, Tito here......I am sure you would be glad to know that I've been eating all my veggies, I love green beans, carrots and apples, but then again I've always had a very healthy appetite.
I am getting used to my new neighborhood, I love going for long walks and exploring my new hood. There's lots to see and meet. So far in the first few weeks I've been here
I've been able to swim in the pool and chase squirrel (don't worry auntie I don't hurt them, they are on the other side of the screen) it is so much fun trying to catch them.
I've also tried my best to be a good boy, but I've had some accidents in the house, nothing to worry about, I'm working on that and I am also working at not being a mean, dominant Boy I turned to when I'm under the bed.... I growl and nip at anyone that tries getting me out from there...don't they understand that I've claimed all that space for me???... well anyway my parents are really very patient with me and w/ a little bit of apples I'm out of there....
Saludos from Coral Springs!!!

They have since adopted another little rescue named Satchmo who is part chihuahua and part doxy. Their 17 year old dog Scarlet is so greatful that Sarge has someone to play with.

 Chloe's new mom and dad
|
Chloe
Chloe is a beautiful 3 1/2 y/o 7# yorkie who was surrendered by her owners who loved and spoiled her very much, but they felt that she would be happier in a home where she would receive more attention and not be left alone so much. Chloe is a little cuddle-bug and loves to give kisses.
Her new parents wanted to call her Mattie; they say that Mattie loves it when
visitors come over - she thinks they're there just to adore her! She has picked out her
favorite spot in the house to look out the window and watch the birds and
squirrels. She likes to go for car rides and knows when we are almost home. She
gets so excited! She also loves her walks, and going to the dog park where she greets everyone with a tail wag.
We are so happy to have Mattie in our lives. She fit right in to our daily
routine perfectly. Thank you for the opportunity to let her adopt us!

 Nellie
|
Nellie
Nervous Nellie, Whoa Nellie...are just some of the "pet" names given to our Nellie, who has been ours since June ('09). Nellie is an interesting package...nervous, anxious, fearful, introverted, and the best thing that has happened to our family in a long while. Little by little she is exhibiting signs that, in time, she will trust us. There are the occasional licks, times when she is very anxious (i.e., storms, strangers) and actually wants to be picked up, plus those answer-to-our-prayer moments when she curls up in bed with us and just wants her tummy rubbed. Did we know what we were in for? At first, no. Now, we realize it will be a slow-going process but the journey has been filled with rewards and at the end our Nellie will be forever-happy to be a part of our family and she won't be Nervous Nellie anymore.

Trixie (Charlotte) in her new home
|
Charlotte
My name is Trixie Cook and I am the spoiled child of Dave and Pat Cook of Racine, WI. I came to live with mom and dad through Heather and Jeff Castagna of Peoria, IL. Auntie Heather as she is known found me on the street in downtown Chicago. Yikes, what a scary place. I'm just glad Auntie Heather found me or I'm sure that I wouldn't be here today to write this.
I have been with Dave and Pat since June 6th of 2009. It hasn't always been the smoothest transition as I can be a little stinker. I still will occasionally potty in the house, but dad and mom are committed to me and just deal with it. I will wait on the back of the couch facing the front door for dad to come home from work starting about 5:00 pm. Dad doesn't get home until about 6:40, so it is a long wait, but I consider it worth it. I enjoy being in a one pet family with no children, that way I get all of the attention. I have slept with dad since my first night, even though he snores. I didn't do too well in the car at first, but slowly I have gotten better. It gets cold here in the winter so I don't go on too many car rides right now (other than to the vet), but next summer I look forward to long car rides.
I really enjoy meal time and have learned to sit and wait patiently until dad tells me it is okay to eat. I have many toys and don't like to share them with dad when he plays with me. I growl at him but he knows that it is just in fun. Dad even has given me his chair to sleep in during the evening. He sits on the couch which isn't quite as comfortable, but he doesn't seem to mind.
Auntie Heather and Uncle Jeff have baby sat for me twice when mom and dad went on trips. Auntie Heather said that they couldn't believe that I was the same dog that they had fostered as I was on my best behavior at their house. I tend to be rather bossy with the other dogs.
All I can say in closing is THANK GOD for Auntie Heather that day in Chicago. My life now is so good.

Jenna
Intial Bio 10-2009: Hi everyone, this is Holly. You may remember me as Jenna. I've been in my forever home for over 4 months now and I am very happy here. My family loves me and spent a lot of time with me over the summer while I got adjusted. I like to play outside with my new friends Bailey and Lily. Bailey and I chase each other all over the yard and we wrestle. She's about 3 times my size but she rolls over on her back and lets me attack her. I learned a few tricks this summer including sit, stay, lay and paw. Mom's teaching me how to roll over and says I've almost got that one. Dad wants to teach me how to put my toys away since I bring them out every day. Little does he know that I'm just not going to do it. I'm pretty much potty trained now. I still have little accidents sometimes when Dad comes home from work. I'm so excited to see him, I just can't help it. My family is trying to get me interested in sports. My sister Amy dresses me up and puts a little Chicago Cubs jersey on me. And Dad likes when I lay on his lap and watch sports with him on Sunday afternoons. I think we were made for each other as we both usually fall asleep. Thank you UYR and thank you to my former foster mom and dad, Jeff and Heather, for finding me such a wonderful home and family.
Love, Holly

Philly
Philly is a 5 y/o 12# yorkie who found himself homeless; thank goodness UYR was there on the spot to rescue him. What a sweet and playful little boy he is......he has been adopted into a wonderful second home where he has a playful little yorkie brother, and a 14 y/o sister that will lavish him with attention, not to mention his loving mom and dad. Have a happy life, little man!
