Hurray for me. I found my perfect forever home
Smokey Bear

3-25-20 Smokey Bear was adopted today. If we could have read this adorable senior boy's mind early in March, we would probably find it filled with fear and anxiety. His mom, who he was with since being a puppy, was gone all of a sudden, and the family that came to visit couldn't take care of him. Who would want a 13-year-old slightly overweight but otherwise wonderful and perfect fellow? Smokey was pretty sad when he got to his foster home. He missed his mommy, he missed his old home, he missed his old life.

It took a little while but Smokey Bear finally started to understand that his foster mom loved him and was going to take great care of him. He knew she would find him the perfect forever home. A place he will be forever loved and cared for until his very last day. Today that happened. Smokey Bear found his perfect forever home. He has a wonderful mommy who will love and care for him forever. He will be the only pup in her life and he will get almost all her attention. He only has to share a little of that attention with the kitty who lives in his forever home too. Smokey is okay with that. He already likes her a lot, in fact they have become good friends. He has a nice fenced yard where he can get some sun and just hang out. Smokey Bear will have the best, most wonderful life for the rest of his life. Happy tails and happy forever little Smokey Bear.

My new mommy loves me so much
Cody

3/18/20 Cody, the cutest little dog, was adopted today. Little Cody who is a tiny young Pomeranian somehow ended up on the street and was taken to the local shelter. Hard to believe that no one came to claim him. The shelter put him up for adoption. Who wouldnt want such a cutie? When a potential adopter went to visit him, she grabbed at him in the cage and this not even 5-pound scared little guy nipped at her. Of course, they didn't want him anymore. They said he was aggressive, and so Cody went from the adoption floor to the For Rescue Only area. There he waited for someone to give him a chance because he really was a good boy. This little guy needed out of the shelter and into someones loving arms soon, and that is what United Yorkie Rescue did, they took him and gave him that chance.

Cody didnt have an aggressive bone in his tiny body. Still it didnt take long for Cody's foster parents to realize that Cody must have little very little human interaction in his short life. He didn't want to be touched or have anything to do with his foster mom or dad. He wouldn't eat and retreated under the bed. In time, with lots and lots of love, understanding, and patience, finally Cody came to understand people aren't bad, that they can be trusted and it is okay to be with them and let them hold you and cuddle with you and even once in a while give them a kiss. After 6 weeks in his foster home Cody was ready to be adopted. He needed a home where he would be the only dog so that he could get the attention and time he needed to continue with his socialization skills. Today Cody went to his forever home with his forever mommy. She promised Cody that she would love him and be patient with him, giving him the time he needed to know she is kind and caring. She already loves him. Cody will have such a great life with his forever mom for his life forever.

I am adopted. My new mom and dad love me so much.
Parker

3-17-20 Happy Adoption Day to Parker. It couldn't have been a happier ending if it was in a fairy tale book. Parker found the most wonderful home and family ever.

Parker is an adorable 3-year-old little Yorkie boy who didn't have such a great start in life. He was paralyzed in his pelvic limbs (rear legs) at birth and was unable to walk - his front limbs are normal. Parker has improved with his mobility and is able to ambulate reasonably well although he is uncoordinated and will fall over if he gets too excited. Parker also does a lot of panting and no one could understand why. In order to figure out all that was going on with him, Parker was taken to the neurologist. After the neurologist observed Parker for a few hours, followed by a consult with UYR, we were told in order to know what is going on with Parker he would need a lot more diagnostic tests. This expense would have been several thousands of dollars and a big expense for United Yorkie Rescue to undertake.

Sometimes miracles do happen and these wonderful people, now Parker's new mom and dad, knew that they had to adopt Parker in order for him to get those tests and the care he may need for his life. They knew it would be hard for a rescue to pay that, but they were ready, willing, and able, to love this sweet, sweet boy and make sure he got everything he needed including all the tests the neurologist recommended and the love and care for the rest of his life. Parker found his angels and our happiness for him has made all our hearts smile. For Parker it truly is the fairy tale ending—and they all lived happily ever after.

My new mom and dad sure do love me
Missy

3-14-20 Missy has a new mommy and daddy. She was adopted today and is so happy. Missy was a scared and timid little girl when she came into her foster home. No one is sure what caused her to be so scared and timid that when people tried to get close to her, she retreated into her crate. She trembled when approached and would not come to anyone. The only way to get Missy to be with her people was to catch her, then she will sit with them, but is not happily. It took a little time, but Missy's foster mom worked with her and Missy became a happy, loving, sweet girl. She loved to play with her foster sister, and she loved the back yard. All that was missing in Miss Missy's life was a forever family of her own. Today that happened. She has a wonderful mom and dad all to herself. She has a beautiful fenced yard, and she will have so much love and happiness. Her new mom and dad are so happy to have Missy for their very own and have promised her she will be loved forever.

Bentley TX

3/7/20: Bentley (TX) has been adopted! He was lucky enough to find the perfect forever home with a special new mom that works from home and loves to explore the outdoors. Bentley has already been on a camping trip complete with kayaking and a bonfire. New mom is super active and has nothing but love and attention for Bentley. Bentley has his own bed right next to moms desk, so he can be involved in the office duties and has access to the secure backyard via a doggie door. He has his own steps to get in and out of bed, though he will stay in bed as long as new mom will let him. Bentley needed a home where he has lots of attention so he can begin to trust again. Life is good in my new home
Buster MacPaws

2/29/20 Happy Leap Year Day that happens once every 4 years. But it was a happy day for 13-year-old Buster MacPaws. Today was his adoption day. Buster MacPaws was sadly surrendered by his former owners who had his since he was a puppy. But life changed and there were several young children and a newborn in the home. They were unable to provide little Buster MacPaws with the attention he deserved. All Buster needed is a soft place to lay his head with the love and care every dog deserves. Buster may be older, but he is smart, energetic and in excellent health. He is gentle and just wants to cuddle up next to his person. We knew that Buster has some wonderful years left to give and receive the love he deserves. We also knew that it would take the right person to adopt this sweet boy and understand that he deserves to live out his remaining years in the arms of someone who will love him until the end. Today it happened just the way it should have. He was adopted by a wonderful retired couple who are ready to give Buster MacPaws all the love and happiness this sweet boy will need no matter how many more years of life he has left. They promised him a life of fun, toys, walks, and all the belly rubs he could ever want. Buster will have not one but two forever homes. Buster MacPaws is ready for his best life ever. Maybe life does begin at 13, it sure has for sweet Buster MacPaws.

Holly is very loved by her new mom and dad.
Holly

10/17/2020: Holly is so happy in her forever home - she has been there for 7 months now and is very loved.

2/15/20 Hooray for Holly. She was adopted today. Little Holly was found roaming the streets, alone and very scared. She was picked up by animal control and taken to the shelter. After spending several days in the shelter waiting and hoping for someone to come get her, no one did, she became a United Yorkie Rescue pup.

When Holly was taken to the vet it was discovered that she needed surgery. Holly had several mammary tumor masses that had to be removed. She also needed a dental badly as she has some serious dental disease. She had extensive labs and x-rays done. Soon after that her surgery was scheduled. Holly recovered from her surgery and was great. Her foster parents saw she was a sweet girl, but she was not really fond of other dogs. They knew this pup who loved people needed to be an only dog in her forever home.

Today Holly found that perfect forever home. She has a mommy and daddy all to herself and the home she always wanted. She has a nice yard and a sunny lanai. She will even have human relatives who are ready to love her. Her foster mom and dad promised Holly to never desert her or stop loving her. She will receive unconditional love, and in her new mommy's words she will be pampered like a princess. Holly will have the royal treatment the rest of her life. We are so happy for Holly. Happy Tails, sweet girl.

Chance and his daddy. It is happy puppy love.
Chance

1/31/20 Chance was adopted today. His story was so sad until his luck turned around. Chance's owner passed away, but no one knew. Chance was alone in the home and went an unknown number of days without food or water. When his owner's death was discovered, Chance was taken to the shelter. He arrived there with severe dehydration, hypothermia, and vascular collapse. He was unable to rise from lying on his side. He had bloody diarrhea and was vomiting dark material. He was breathing with great effort and wheezing. He was not interested in food and could only pick his head up for short periods of time. His blood was dark and thick. The shelter immediately started everything to get him stabilized, but were highly concerned about secondary problems related to his severe dehydration - damage to his organs, damage to the GI tract, a secondary bacterial infection due to intestinal tract damage, and swelling of the brain due to the abrupt change in the electrolyte content of the blood. The shelter could only do so much. Chance needed to be hospitalized at a veterinary clinic to be monitored for problems and given appropriate support care.

The shelter called an officer for immediate transport to the emergency clinic overnight. They notified the on-call vet to monitor him and give him supportive care. The vet was told to euthanize him if his systems start to shut down and he was in organ failure. The emergency vet did bloodwork and continued with medicine and fluids. Chance started to do better. When he returned to the shelter the next day, he was able to stand and he was eating and drinking. His chemistry was improving and everything was looking better. The shelter continued with fluids and medication. They knew Chance needed more then they could give him.

The call went out for a rescue to give Chance a chance. He needed to leave the shelter as soon as possible and be taken to a 24-hour veterinary care facility where he would continue to receive supportive care and appropriate treatment for extreme dehydration and any other medical issues that would arise because of that. And United Yorkie Rescue answered that call.

Chance was picked up from the shelter and taken to the 24-hour emergency care vet. All signs pointed to Chance improving steadily. That was just the beginning of Chance's story. Chance made it and thrived in his foster home. He received all the medical care he needed and so much more. Finally he was ready for is forever home. Today that happened, and it was the best day of Chance's life. Chance was adopted. Now he has a wonderful forever home all his own. He has mostly retired daddy all to himself. He will get to go everywhere with his daddy because Chance will be the only dog in his daddy's life. The minute Chance met his daddy he knew he was home forever, and could anything be better? Happy Tails, Chance.

My new mommy really loves me
CoCo FL

1-19-20 CoCo the cutie was adopted today. This sweet girl arrived at United Yorkie Rescue from a high-kill shelter. CoCo was a loving and loyal companion all her life to her former owners. Once she became older and needed veterinary care, she was dumped at the shelter - heartbreaking! CoCo received all the medical care she needed while in her foster home. Her skin and ear infections were treated and she got better and prettier every day. CoCo's foster parents found out what a sweetheart she is. Still it took almost 6 months to get CoCo really healthy and ready for her forever life. Today CoCo found forever love in the arms of her forever mommy. She will never be abandoned again; she will never find herself alone and in the shelter ever again. From now on until forever CoCo will be loved and cared for. She has a home with doggie playmates and even a cat. She has a nice fenced yard to hang out in. Best of all CoCo has a stay at home mom and dad. The best life ever started today for CoCo. Happy forever and ever to CoCo.
